Quiet Time In the Studio
After two really busy shows this summer, I’m enjoying a much quieter time in the studio this last month, not focusing on creating work to hit dates, but just focusing on being with the work I’m making. I love just sitting and letting a piece marinate, especially since I can feel my work starting to change.
How is it changing?
The changes are subtle. I’m feeling inspired by some of the things I’ve been doing in my printmaking and seeing those themes get carried over into my larger acrylic works. I haven’t made radical changes, but I can feel something bigger percolating, ready to start coming through in bigger ways in my next pieces.
The beginnings of this change appeared in the piece I finished last week. Here it is.
Every Broken Arrow
Acrylic and pencil on 28” x 36” gallery canvas
$850USD plus shipping
The changes I mentioned may not be obvious — you might have to be me to see them. But if you take a stroll through my printmaking I think you might start to see some similarities.
This piece is available — if this piece is meant to live with you then please send me a request to purchase! And don’t worry: we can discuss shipping before we finalize any details.
Been Wanting A Print?
Have you seen a piece I’ve made and thought, “I wish there was a print of that I could buy…”? If so, I want to know!
I’ve done custom gicleé fine art prints for people who fall in love with a piece but don’t have the space for the full-sized original, or simply want a more affordable way to own a piece that they love.
One gentleman adored a piece I’d made but said that his walls were chock full of art — since he couldn’t fit the original 24” x 36” painting, he asked if instead he could buy a print for about a quarter of the size. I was happy I could do that for him, and it was at a price that was more in line with his budget.
If you have a piece you’ve seen on my site and you’d like a print version, just send me a note with the name of the piece and what size roughly you’d like to get it in as a print. I’m happy to get back to you with the details!
I’ve been looking at the smaller pieces that have come back to me from shows, like this one: We Are Awake But Still, 12” x 12” acrylic on canvas. These smaller pieces are often experiments for palettes and a reminder for me that art doesn’t have to be big to make an impact.
We’re heading into that darker part of the year, friends. Yesterday on a flight from Seattle I marveled at the way the fog snaked through the valleys of the Cascade Foothills as my plane arced away from them, that fog that is so much a part of this region this time of year. It’s cold and opaque, but beautiful in its own way. I hope that, for those of you in the Northern Hemisphere with me, you’re keeping warm and cozy and looking at something you find beautiful every day.
Be well, friends!
